SS17 Inspiration

It’s been forever since I’ve done one of these type of posts! I don’t really know why I haven’t as I spend hours online and scrolling through instagram! Anyway, this is what has caught my eye lately. As you can probably tell I’m dreaming about warmer days and can’t wait for some REAL sun. After the last couple of months, I really feel like I need a week by a pool somewhere to just relax with a mojito in hand. As always, comfort is key for me –  I like to keep it casual. You will most likely find me wearing a mixture of classic sports and streetwear brands or a pair of ripped blue jeans with a classic white t-shirt.

Creating a Work Space

FullSizeRender-4-3.jpg

When it comes to all things work related it’s easy to become distracted. If you’re anything like me, then there’s aways something better to be doing than sat at a desk. For me, one of the biggest distractions is my surroundings.

Having a comfortable workspace is the number one thing in getting through my to-do list. A clutter free environment is key to keeping me motivated. Being surrounded by clutter not only makes me less productive but I also find it to be quite stressful.

When creating a work environment, the first thing to consider is the desk itself. I opted for  a see-through glass desk so it would just blend into the room rather than being a key feature. Being glass the light also reflects through it, keeping my area light and airy.

I’ve had numerous chairs over the past year, but finally settled on this Eames-inspired chair. I opted for a white base with chrome legs, and at £23.99, a bargain compared to what you would pay for a real Eames chair.

Once you have the basics, its time to add in the essentials; your computer and anything else you need regularly, such as books and notepads. This helps you work around the items you use everyday.

Next up is styling your desk. For me I like a minimal/industrial style involving neutral colours, strong lines and as little clutter as possible. I like to keep things organised and looking as streamline as possible so I have the Memo-Board from Block as a key feature. This way I can clip anything too it I need to do and it’s in front of me then. Adding some storage such as baskets and trays can also help to keep things organised. For these items H&M home should be your first stop as they have such a great selection which is continuously updating.

I keep a basket full of items which I’m currently testing or reviewing on my desk, as an almost to-do list which keeps me motivated, such as the Bulldog Skincare I was recently testing c/o Mankind.

Next it’s time to add some personality into your space, adding prints, lighting and decorative accessories will help make the space more personal and fun. The Wire Cage Pendant Light was another eBay purchase. Although originally designed to be suspended from the ceiling, a quick change of plug fitting and I couldn’t be happier with the result. I added a filament light bulb, also from eBay to complete the look. Finally, a couple of my favourite magazines for inspiration and a hint of greenery and my space is completed.

LPU | adidas Ultra Boost

FullSizeRender

After missing out on the initial release I was glad to see the adidas Ultra Boosts restocked last week. Naturally I impulse bought both pairs. Constructed from a breathable primeknit upper, the shoes have tonal overlays to the heel and sides which feature the infamous adidas three stripe branding. The adidas Ultra Boost is designed to return energy with every step you take. By providing comfort and performance the boost midsole and lightweight sock liner make them the perfect running shoe.

I purchased both of these in my true size; they do run small so I would recommend sizing up by 0.5. At £130 they are a little pricey, however they will be the comfiest pair of shoes you own.

What do you think of the adidas Ultra Boost?

Balmain x H&M

Screen Shot 2015-10-20 at 13.39.27

After months of teasers and sneak peaks, the much anticipated collaboration between H&M and Balmain was finally unveiled last week, ahead of its November 5 release. Following in the footsteps of Versace, Maison Martin Margiela and more recently Alexander Wang, Balmain is the latest designer collaboration from H&M, continuing to bring high-fashion design to the high street.

The collection is made up of over 100 items, with military-inspired leather jackets, rhinestone blazers, and a jumpsuit headlining the selection for men. Whilst the collection is heavy on statement pieces, embroidery and gold detail, the range also features a smart military coat, tapered drop-crotch joggers, a biker-inspired hooded sweatshirt and a number of short and long sleeve shirts to cater for those looking for those more simple autumn-ready looks.

I tend to lean towards the latter, preferring more simple styles, avoiding detail and patterns where I can. With that in mind I have put together my favourite items from the collection for you. I have gone for the long double breasted coat, classic logo tee, hooded sweater and black jeans with zip details, with the hope of snagging one or two pieces on release day.

Whatever you choose, you’ll have to be quick if past collaborations are anything to go by. Prices start at around £30 for a tee and will be available from hm.com come 5th November.

What are your favourite pieces from the collection? Will you be joining the #BalmainNation?

48hrs in Copenhagen | Where to Stay

FullSizeRender.jpg-6

Hotel SP34
Sankt Peders Stræde 34
1453 Copenhagen C
T: +45 3313 3000

Checked in: 20/07/15

We stayed at SP34, a 4+ boutique hotel located on Sankt Peders Stræde in Copenhagen’s old Latin Quarter. The 118 room hotel is a twenty-five minute journey form the airport at a cost of 275DKK (£27), but is about a ten minute walk from Nørreport Station if you decide to get the train.

Check-in time for the hotel is at 3pm but we arrived at around 11am expecting to drop our bags off and they had a room ready for us, which was ideal. On arrival, the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, answering any questions we had and inviting us to join them between 5pm and 6pm for the hotels daily wine hour for complimentary wine. The lounge and lobby area has a really relaxed positive vibe, which is perfect for enjoying a glass or two after a day of exploring. The hotel itself is very chic, blending Scandinavian style with influences of art and modern comforts.

Our room was on the 5th floor and was clean and comfortable and spacious enough for two. Once again the decor is similar, you can’t really go wrong with grey walls, white linen and wood accents can you? The bathroom however featured a waterfall shower and was stocked with Ren toiletries, adding to the luxurious feel.

In terms of amenities, the hotel offers a gym, high speed internet access, a private cinema and three a la carte Restaurants with an adjoining roof terrace on the first floor. The location makes it ideal, with quick transportation links and many attractions such as Trivoli and the Rundetaarn within walking distance. I would stay here again without a doubt and recommend it to anyone looking to stay somewhere a little different. For more information and to book visit: http://www.brochner-hotels.dk/our-hotels/sp34/
